Who Is Luis Palau?

BIRTHDATE, PLACE
November 27, 1934, in the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina.

EARLY CHRISTIAN EXPERIENCE
Committed his life to Jesus Christ at age 12. At age 18, began preaching on weekends while working at an Argentine bank. By 1957, he and several other young men organized a tent evangelism and radio ministry in Argentina.

EDUCATION
Attended Saint Alban's College, a British boarding school in Argentina, part of the Cambridge University Overseas Program. Completed Graduate Program, Multnomah School of the Bible (now Multnomah Biblical Seminary, Portland, Oregon).

CHRISTIAN MINISTRY
Joined Overseas Crusades (now OC International, Colorado Springs, Colorado) in 1961 for ministry to Spanish-speaking people. In December 1966, he held his first evangelistic campaign in Bogotá, Colombia. A year later he was named OC's Latin America Field Director and began forming an international team of men and women. The Luis Palau Evangelistic Team became a separate division within the mission in 1971, and on October 1, 1978, the Palau Team left OC to form a separate organization with international headquarters in Portland, Oregon. LPEA also has offices in Miami, Guatemala City, and London.
