If
you have ever imagined being in France for the 24-hour
of Le Mans, this is your chance to experience "almost
being there". The 2001 American Le Mans Grand Prix
of Portland will feature the most dazzling array of sportscars
ever to set rubber on Portland International Raceways
1.944 mile road course.
Come watch the anticipated
all-star lineup of drivers including J.J. Lehto, David
Brabham, and Jan Magnussen. They will be piloting these
amazing machines in excess of 180 mph! You will be able
to see and
hear the new Audi R8, Panoz Prototype, Saleen S7, Corvette
C5-R, and Porsche 911-GT3-R. In the paddock area you will
be able to get a close look at all the race cars and their
equipment, and have a chance to obtain a coveted autograph
from your favorite driver.

The
American Le Mans Series (ALMS) won't be the only show
in town during this three-day weekend. The fan-favorite
ground-pounders are back! Yes, that's right the Tran-Am
Series for the BFGoodrich Tires cup will be taking main
stage on Saturday. When the green flag drops expected
veteran drivers Brian Simo, Paul Gentilozzi, Willy T.
Ribbs, and Michael Lewis will be hammering down the straight
in their Ford Mustangs, Jaguar XKR's, Chevrolet Corvettes,
and Panoz Esperantes.
Also, making their debut
to Portland International Raceway (PIR) is the Speedvision
World Challenge series wich includes two race groups:
GT and Touring. Boris Said, Stu Hayner, and Derek Bell
are among the series regulars aggressively driving Porsche
RSR's, Saleen SR's, and Viper GTS'. Also racing this weekend
is the Star Mazda Series. Nose to tail racing with aggressive
passing and a huge field of cars will make this a fantastic
race to watch.
Don't miss out on this wonderful
opportunity to view over 200 race cars, five breath-taking
races and all the autographs and memorabilia that you
can handle. See you in August!
